🌿🐄 Reducing Methane Emissions: A Sustainable Approach for Nepal’s Cattle Farmers 🌍💡 Did you know that cattle and buffaloes contribute to about 32% of global methane emissions, a gas 28 times more effective at trapping heat than CO₂? 🌡️ In Nepal, many farmers are unaware of how their livestock impact climate change. He is Advocate Ankit Pathak and social activist, visited around 50 households in Banke and Bardiya, he’ve seen firsthand how simple, cost-effective methods can make a difference. He is very excited to share two practical solutions: 1) Silvopasture System: By integrating trees, shrubs, and herbs into grazing lands, it provide better source of protein and fiber result in less emission of methane and allow these plants and trees to absorb methane directly from cattle. 2) Garlic Powder: Adding garlic powder to cattle diets has shown promise in reducing methane emissions. Farmers have already reported improved milk yields and reduced methane issues.
